TERIYAKI FRIED CHICKEN


Chicken Teriyaki is usually grilled and glazed with a sweet, savoury, umami, dark soy suace based sauce. Sprinkled over with some light sesame seeds and some freshly chopped spring onions, but this can get kind of boring after some time.

Let me introduce you to something a bit more uniqueeee, a crispy crunchy chicken coated with the all familiar sweet savoury teriyaki sauce. This is sure to get your taste buds rising up with excitement, bringing a whole new version of teriyaki chicken that are you are sure to enjoy.

Enjoy the crunchy, savoury tender pieces of chicken, with just a bit of ginger to break up all the deep fried goodness, you got to try this simple teriyaki fried chicken.


Ingredients

  1. 400g Boneless Chicken

  2. 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour

  3. 1/2 Cup Corn Flour

  4. 1tb Grated Ginger

  5. 1 Clove Garlic

  6. 5tb Light Soy Sauce

  7. 2tb Honey

  8. 1tb Mirin

  9. 1tb Sesame Seed Oil

  10. Sesame Seeds

STEPS

  1. First things first, time to chop chop your boneless chicken into bite size pieces of your choice.

  2. To the chicken add in 1tb of grated ginger, 1tb of light soy sauce and mix well.

  3. To your marinated chicken add in 1/2 a cup of all purpose flour and 1/2 a cup of corn flour and coat them well, giving you little floury nuggets.

  4. Heat up a pot of oil on high heat.

  5. Once the oil is hot, gently layer your chicken into the hot oil to fry for 8-10 minutes flipping half way till golden brown and cooked through. Set aside on a wired rack to drain off the excess oil.

  6. While the chicken is cooling down you can whip up a very quick and easy teriyaki sauce.

  7. In a bowl combine 4tb of Light soy sauce, 2tb of honey, 1tb of mirin and 1tb of sesame seed oil. Mix well till well combined.

  8. In a large wok or pan on medium heat add in your sauce along with 1/8 cup of water and 1 clove of smashed garlic and bring it up to a light simmer.

  9. Once the sauce is simmering add in your lovely fried chicken and coat well. Serve up with some sesame seeds and optionally for style points some sliced green onion.
