SALT & PEPPER CHICKEN


There is just something sooooo special about Chinese or Asian take out food. I'm not sure if its the magical white powder they add inside or the well used wok that just casts beautiful amounts of flavour into the dish. Not to mention it is quick and easy as well, but there has been a lot of talks about the health aspect of Chinese take out food.

Well here is a classic dish, where you can control everything. Get to enjoy your favourite asian take out food without all the unhealthy comments and ideas swarming your brain. Beautifully breaded and crispy pieces of tender fried chicken, coated with a light seasoning of salt and pepper all bound together with some fresh bell peppers and onions.

Nothing can beat this simple crunchy, tender, juicy, healthy salt and pepper fried chicken. Perfect for a weekend lunch, a weekday meal and super easy to make for yourself or for a crowd.


Ingredients

  1. 250g Chicken Thighs

  2. 1 Red Bell Pepper

  3. 1/2 a White Onion

  4. 2 Cloves of Garlic

  5. 1/2 Thumb Sized Piece of Ginger

  6. 2tb of Vinegar

  7. 1/2 Cup of Corn Flour

  8. 1/4 Cup of All Purpose Flour

  9. 1tb of Black Pepper

STEPS


  1. Start by pealing 3 cloves of garlic and 1/2 a thumb sized piece of ginger.

  2. Peal and slice thinly 1/2 a white onion.

  3. Core out and thinly slice 1 red bell pepper.

  4. Lastly chop up your chicken into bite size pieces and place it into a large mixing bowl.

  5. Into that mixing bowl add in 2tb of vinegar, grate in your garlic and ginger and add in about 1/4ts of salt. Mix well.

  6. Add in 1/4 a cup of all purpose flour and 1/2 cup of corn flour and mix well till each piece of chicken is evenly coated in flour.

  7. In a pot heat up some oil on high heat. Once hot fry your lovely pieces of chicken for 5-7 minutes or till golden brown and cooked through. Set aside to drain on a wired rack.

  8. In a wok add in a little bit of oil and fry off your onions and bell peppers on high heat.

  9. Once your onions and peppers are softened add in your fried chicken and sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste and give the whole mixture a good mix.

Serve up right away and enjoy your super simple hacked instant take away.
