KOREAN CORN DOG

Soft, crunchy, savoury, sweet, what more could you want from food? No wonder this is one of the most popular foods on the streets of Korea. The crunchy panko bread crumb changes any old hot dog into something amazing. The crunch, the texture and the flavour, it will quite literally send you off to heaven.

A very simple and quick snack to fix up, it could even be served as an appetizer to your guests. There are a large variety of corn dogs but today we have the most classic one. A simple deep fried hot dog wrapped in a sweet and crunchy breading. Delight on a stick.

Ingredients

  1. 8 Hot Dogs

  2. 8 Skewers

  3. 1.5 Cups of Flour

  4. 2ts of Baking Powder

  5. 2tb of Sugar

  6. 1 Egg

  7. 1 Cup of Panko Bread Crumbs

STEPS

  1. In a large bowl combine 1.5 cups of all purpose flour, 2ts of baking powder and 2tb of sugar. Mix well.

  2. Make a small little hole in the center and crack in an egg.

  3. Slowly drizzle in 1/2 cup of water while mixing till you get a nice thick batter. You should be thick enough to cling onto your hot dog. If its too thin add more flour till you reached the desired consistency.

  4. Skewer your hot dogs and set them aside.

  5. In a large plate lay out 1 cup of panko bread crumbs and heat up a pan or pot of oil that is wide or deep enough for your corn dogs.

  6. Pour your batter into a tall glass. Tall enough to fully submerge your hotdog.

  7. Now you got to be quick. Take 1 skewer dip it into the glass making sure to get some batter on the skewer as well (help the corn dog stick to the skewer).

  8. Place your dipped corn dog into the plate of panko and cover it well then straight into the hot oil.

  9. Gently fry your corn dog till golden brown and yummy. Should take no longer than 2-3 minutes per side.

  10. Rinse and repeat.

Serve up with some ketchup, mayo, mustard or whatever sauce you fancy.
