BRAISED TOFU & MINCED PORK


Who doesn't like these soft squishy little nuggets of tofu, they are just so versatile. Soft, yummy, packed with protein and just all around a lovely ingredient, its just at times it can be a bit bland. Let me show you have to fully utilise these soft little nuggets.

When braised in sweet, savoury soy sauce infused with garlic and aromatic ginger, the tofu will just absorb all of this rich sauce giving you a very flavourful and yummy piece to bite into. Paired with some tender juicy bits of mince pork this is sure to be a winning dish at gatherings. You can optionally swap the minced pork for minced chicken or even minced mushrooms to make it a vegetarian dish. So grab you wok and set some rice to cook as this dish is gonna be whipped up in a flash and gone even faster.

Ingredients

  1. 200g of Firm Tofu

  2. 150g of Minced Pork

  3. 3 Cloves of Garlic

  4. 1 Thumb Sized Piece of Ginger

  5. 1tb of Oyster Sauce

  6. 1tb of Light Soy Sauce

  7. 1tb of Sesame Seed Oil

  8. 1ts of White Pepper

  9. 1tb of Dark Soy Sauce

  10. 1ts of Corn Flour

STEPS

  1. Peel and mince 3 cloves of garlic along with 1 thumb sized piece of ginger.

  2. Gently chop up your firm tofu into bite piece pieces, the size is totally up to you.

  3. In a wok over high heat add in some oil and fry your minced pork till it starts to turn a golden brown and almost crispy.

  4. Add in your garlic and ginger and continue to fry till fragrant.

  5. Add in 200ml of water along with 1tb of oyster sauce, 1tb of light soy sauce, 1tb of sesame seed oil, 1ts of white pepper and 1tb of dark soy sauce or cooking caramel.

  6. Give it a good mix together. Add in your tofu, cover and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.

  7. In a cup or bowl combine 1ts of corn flour and a some water to make a corn starch slurry, add it into your tofu mix and gently stir.

  8. Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce till your prefereed consistency. Season to taste with salt and white pepper.
