With the literal translation to fat rice this dish is not only known for its funny name but also for its ability to instantly turn people fat mainly because people just keep on coming back for more. 

A savory coconut milk fragrant steamed rice, paired with a spicy but sweet chili sauce (Sambal), along with fried anchovies, peanuts and some fresh cucumber to cool it all down. A perfect dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner or even a snack.

How to make rice fat?

1.

In a Pot of boiling water add in your dried chilies and let it bubble away for 5 minutes. 

2.

Begin to CHOP your onions into quarters and your Shallots into halves. 

Ingredients 

1.

2 Onions & 8 Shallots

2.

12 Pieces of Dried Chili

3.

4tb of Sugar

4.

1te of Pandan Extract

5.

4 Cups of Rice

6.

1 Tin of Coconut Milk

7.

Cucumber

8.

Washed & Dried Anchovies

9.

Raw Peanuts

10.

6 Eggs

Optional: Ginger

How to make the Blood Red Sambal?

In a blender add in your chopped Tear Gas (Onions & Shallots) with 4-5tb of water and blend till a smooth paste forms. (Don't Look at it, it will 100% make you cry)

In a pan or wok add enough oil to cover the base of the pan and heat on medium high heat. Once hot, add in your blended onion paste be careful it SPITS. Fry till fragrant and the mixture starts to turn a slightly darker colour (10 minutes)

Drain your chilies and add it into the blender with a tiny bit of water and blend it up till a red hot paste forms.

Add the paste into your pan and mix well with the onion mixture and continue to fry on medium low heat. 

7.

Add in 4tb of sugar, and 1/2tb of salt into the sambal mixture and continue to fry till a deep dark red colour emerges and oil starts to come out of the mixture (20-30 minutes).

Caution: If its too hot add in more blended onions and sugar to taste.  

How to Make the White Fluffy Stuff

1.

Wash 4 cups of rice and throw it into a rice cooker or pot.

2.

Add 1 tin of coconut milk, 1.5 cups of water, 1tb of salt and 1te of pandan extract or if you have actual pandan leaves tie into a knot and add that in. Give the mixture a nice stir. 

Optional: Add in some sliced GINGER this will help counter the richness of the coconut milk. 

3.

Cook the rice as how you normally would. 

4.

You should be greeted with a lovely aromatic white fluffy rice, perfect for any dish.

The Hardest Step

1.

Heat up a pot of oil and deep fry your  WASHED & DRIED anchovies.

2.

Deep fry your peanuts.

3.

Boil, peel and half your eggs.

4.

Wash and Chop your cucumber.

5.

Plate and SERVE
