What is Korea without Kimchi? It is a staple in many of their traditional dishes, it is so common to find it in all their meals as a side dish. It is usually made out of Napa cabbage, radish, some carrots and fused together with the red hot chili flake known as Gochugaru.
Here we learn the most basic kimchi, it is a great introduction to fermentation and a great dish to make for any meal. So get your jars out and clear out a shelf because your whole kitchen is going to smell like kimchi soon.
Breakfast Kimbap
Fresh rolls of rice encapsulated in a roll of seaweed filled with whatever you could possibly imagine. So why not fill it with breakfast things? Thats what I did and it got me rushing out of the bed every morning for these delicious little rolls.
With the freedom to put whatever you want inside, this is a basic recipe for you to experiment and share with your friends, family, loved ones or just keep the entire roll to yourself.
Breakfast Roll?
1.
Wash 2 cups of sushi rice till the water runs clear.
2.
Add 2.5 cups of water and a pinch of salt into the rice mixture.
3.
Cook the rice in your preferred method.

Finely cut 2 sausages to little cubes alone with 1/2 a bell pepper, 1/4 cup of spinach and 30g of mushrooms. You wan't them small but not minced.

4 Sheets Nori Seaweed

2 Cups Sushi Rice

6 Eggs

2 Sausages

1/2 Bell Pepper

30g Mushroom

1/2 Cup Cheese

1/2 Cup Milk

1/4 Cup Spinach
The All Important Rice
The Luxurious Tasty Filling

Beat up 6 eggs with 1/2 a cup of milk and a pinch of salt till smooth and HOMOGENEOUS.

Grate 1/2 a cup or more of cheese into a bowl.
4.
Heat up a pan on medium heat and gently fry your sausages till cooked and set aside. Repeat with your mushrooms and peppers and any other raw ingredients.
5.
Heat up a non stick pan (8-inches) to medium low. Depending on how non-stick it is add a little bit of oil. The pan I use does not even need oil.
6.
Once hot scoop in about 3-4tbs of egg into the pan and swirl it around till it covers the entire base.
7.
Sparingly sprinkle your sausages, peppers, mushrooms, cheese, spinach and whatever filling you wish over the egg.
8.
Slowly roll up the egg to one corner of the pan.
9.
Add in another 3tbs of egg and repeat till a decent sized egg roll has formed. About 4-5 times.
10.
Turn the egg out on some grease proof baking paper or aluminium foil and roll it up and begin to shape it into a cylinder.
Harmony During Breakfast
1.
With a bamboo mat or even just some cling film lay out a sheet of nori. (Seaweed).
2.
Scoop some rice onto the nori and with your hands gently wet them to prevent sticking, spread the rice evenly throughout the whole nori sheet.
3.
Unwrap your rolled Omelette and place it at the edge of the nori sheet.
4.
With the bamboo mat or the cling film begin to roll your kimbap as tightly as possible.
5.
Repeat with your remaining egg rolls.
6.
Slice with a sharp knife cleaning the knife between each cuts to get a nice clean cut. Should yield about 8 pieces per roll.
7.
Take it outside on a good day and enjoy your roll under the morning sun.
